LISTEN is a journal and creative community that centres voices from the global majority, with an emphasis on women of colour.

For our next print edition, “On Belonging”, we’re inviting you to share your experiences of migration, diaspora, community and identity.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for pieces that represent our community.

We encourage essays and interviews up to 3,000 words. poetry, photo sets & illustrations.

We welcome pitches & finished pieces.

TOPICS OF INTEREST (NOT LIMITED TO)

Migration & Moving Moving between countries, cities or communities, starting again, displacement and returning home.
Diasporic Experiences Living away from your country of origin, connections to your heritage and experiences across generations.
Fitting In / Standing Out‍ ‍Finding acceptance, navigating expectations, experiencing exclusion or choosing to do things differently.
Navigating Identity‍ ‍How race, gender, nationality, class, faith or sexuality shape your experiences of belonging.
Home‍ ‍What makes somewhere home, belonging to more than one place or feeling disconnected from where you grew up.
Family & Community‍ ‍Family histories, chosen family, friendships and the communities we build or become part of.
Language & Traditions‍ ‍The languages, food, rituals and cultural practices that connect us to people and places.
Interviews‍ ‍Conversations with individuals or organisations whose experiences or work explore belonging, identity, migration or community.

No exclusivity required. Please let us know if your work has previously been published.
Contributions are currently unpaid
All contributors will receive a decision by 5 January 2027

Selected work will appear in ARC II: On Belonging, planned for publication in March 2027.
