Behind The Scenes: Yamiini

We went Behind the Scenes at our launch shoot to speak with Emily, Eno and Yamiini to hear all about their experience with Listen Journal and what inspires them creatively.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

So I was born in the Netherlands and moved to the UK when I was 7. I went to Uni in London and graduated with a masters in Chemistry in 2022. Shortly after, I started pursuing my passion which is acting and modeling as I have always envisioned myself in this creative industry.

How do you prefer to express yourself creatively?

My favourite ways to express myself creatively is through movement, whether that be through dance, yoga etc. I also love to journal and write allowing me to express my emotions onto paper and create inspiration through my initial ideas.

When you hear the word femininity, what comes to mind?

The first three words that come to mind are: beauty, elegance and life. I believe we all as humans possess feminine energy which makes us more in touch with our emotions and when tapped into more, brings us a sense of compassion and comfort.

What represents community for you?

Community to me is a space where everyone can be themselves and be accepted for who they are without judgement and fear. A safe space where individualism can be expressed freely.

What impression do you hope to leave with people?

This is a tough one to answer but honestly, I would hope to leave people with a sense of being loved, cherished and inspired.

How was your experience shooting with Listen Journal?

My experience was absolutely fabulous and I had a great time shooting for this incredible journal whereby the ethos that the journal stands for, I can resonate with and am proud to be a part of.
